Chores

One of the downsides to homeschooling is that cleaning the home tends to go by the wayside, much like when you have itty bitty babies. Once we are done with school, I spend the rest of my day following the kids around picking up their scattered toys and sweeping trails of crumbs. That leaves little time to clean the rest of the house.

It's time for a certain little girl, who is now six, to step up to the plate and have her own big kid chores complete with allowance.

Enter the chore chart.

I had her help me decide which chores she would like to have on her list and how much she felt she should be paid each week. She said $3 sounds good  and since I have no idea what kids get for allowances, $3 sounds good to me. After all, that's just enough to make her feel compensated but not enough that she can go buy whatever she wants at the end of the week. She will actually have to save up her money. Although knowing her, she'd probably like to go spend the $3 each week on a My Little Pony comic book and if that's the case then my idea of saving up just went out the window.

Can we keep this up each week and will it have any effect on her?
Only time will tell.
